School's out for Summer!

Join us at SPL on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 for the TD Summer Reading Club drop-in.  We have some great books, songs, games and crafts planned for this week - so make sure you come on in!
If you haven't registered, don't worry - you can do it at the club!

Also on Tuesday we have the SPL Art Studio.  Come and experience the Finger Paint Extravaganza!  Primary Art Studio (ages 5-8) is from 1:00-2:00 and Junior Art Studio (ages 9-12) is from 2:00-3:00.  Just wait to see what we're up to!

Come join Brandon, SPL's very own Lego expert for some amazing builds.  Brandon will inspire and amaze - bringing books, samples, and many great ideas.   You may bring your own Lego, but there will also be some provided.  Get ready for a creative construction adventure!

Have You Registered Yet!?




SPL has over 100 kids ages 3-12 signed up for the TD Summer Reading Club!

Want to join?  It's easy!  Registration takes only a few minutes, and can be done in the lower floor of The Stratford Public Library.  Receive a passport to track reading and get stickers that unlock online rewards, a preschool/school-aged activity booklet when you register!  We have lots of amazing summer programs going on.

Whale of a Tale



Come and join us tonight for Whale of a Tale (ages 0-6), Mondays from 6:30-7:15.  Tonight's theme is... Summer!
Wear your PJs and bring a fuzzy friend for family story time. This is a great way to get in a bedtime story and a craft!

Let's Go!

Are you ready to travel to different libraries throughout Perth County?

The Amazing Race Perth County begins on July 2. You can pick up your race card at any library and your goal is to receive stamps from all 5 libraries in Perth County (Stratford, St. Marys, Milverton, Mitchell and Listowel). Each library has a great challenge planned for you to complete which will earn you a stamp on your card. When your card is complete, enter it into a draw for amazing prizes.

Amazing race cards will be ready for pick up shortly!

Get Your Erick Traplin Tickets Now!


Erick Traplin will launch off this summer’s TD Summer Reading Club with his fun-filled children’s concert - JULY 5

Erick’s shows appeal to kids of all ages and is sure to be the hit of your child’s summer!  He sings, plays guitar and harmonica and uses digital technology to enhance his accompaniment. Erick also brings a tub full of fun and surprises for all!

FREE for children registered in the TD-SRC, all others $3.00/person.  Advance tickets are recommended.

Book Buddies!


Keep literacy alive this summer with this amazing and FREE program at The Stratford Public Library!

Kids 5-12 can sign up for 30 minute time slots to work one-on-one with a trained SPL volunteer on Thursdays from 2:00-4:00.  Book Buddies is available in both English and French to help children maintain and improve their reading throughout the summer.

Meet this year’s TD Summer Reading club artist, Matt James!


Matt is a noted painter, illustrator and musician, who lives in Toronto, Ontario. He has illustrated the picture books Yellow Moon, Apple Moon by Pamela Porter, I Know Here by Laurel Croza and most recently Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers. He is currently working with Laurel on the pictures for the sequel to I Know Here.

The books that Matt has illustrated have won many awards, including the New Mexico Book Award, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award and the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award.

GO! Get Ready for the TD Summer Reading Club at SPL!

Excitement is buzzing at the Stratford Public Library over the programs that will be launching soon for this summer! 

Cool down on hot summer days in the library with fun activities including stories, songs, crafts, and many programs that will have your children eager to continue and enhance their love of reading.  

Registration for the TD Summer Reading Club will begin on June 17, 2013.  Registration is quick, and only takes a minute or two.  Upon registration, you child will be given an activity book and passport to track their summer reading.  Bring the passport each week to receive a sticker and a code to unlock new levels of fun at the TD Summer Reading Club 2013 website.  

We can’t wait to see you at the library for registration, and we hope that you’re getting as excited as we are!
